Robin DeRosa

Robin DeRosa is a professor and an internationally-known advocate for Open Education. Her research and activism focus on increasing public access to knowledge, critically rethinking the profit motive in education, and piloting new architectures for programs and institutions that empower and center learners in their design. Robin is Director of Interdisciplinary Studies at Plymouth State University, part of the University System of New Hampshire. She is also an editor for Hybrid Pedagogy, an open-access, peer-reviewed journal that combines the strands of critical pedagogy and digital pedagogy to arrive at the best social and civil uses for technology and new media in education, and she has taught courses for the Digital Humanities Summer Institute and Digital Pedagogy Lab. A leader in the movement to develop a social justice orientation for pedagogues and practices related to Open Educational Resources (OER) and Connected Learning, Robin’s work interrogates and inspires, and offers possibilities for a commons-oriented approach to educational innovation.

Dr. Rajiv Jhangiani

Dr. Rajiv Jhangiani is the Special Advisor to the Provost on Open Education and a Psychology Instructor at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in British Columbia, where he conducts research on open education and the scholarship of teaching and learning. A recipient of the Robert E. Knox Master Teacher Award from the University of British Columbia and the Dean of Arts Teaching Excellence award at KPU, Dr. Jhangiani serves as the co-director of the Open Pedagogy Notebook, an Associate Editor of Psychology Learning and Teaching, and an Ambassador for the Center for Open Science. He also currently serves on the advisory boards of NOBA Psychology and Virtually Connecting. Formerly a Senior Open Education Research & Advocacy Fellow at BCcampus and a Faculty Workshop Facilitator with the Open Textbook Network, Dr. Jhangiani’s books include A Compendium of Scales for Use in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (2015) and Open: The Philosophy and Practices that are Revolutionizing Education and Science (2017).
